Configuring Facebook
Your site can show a feed of your recent Facebook posts on the home page, and publish walk photo albums to your Facebook Page.
Both rely on the Page connection described in Configuring Social Media. Connect that first — this page only covers what is specific to Facebook.
What Facebook needs in addition
Nothing beyond the Page connection itself. The two things worth repeating, because they catch people out:
- It must be a Page. Meta's API cannot post to a Facebook Group, and a personal profile is not a Page.
- You must be an admin of that Page, or it will not appear in the list when you connect.
The Facebook feed on the home page
The Facebook panel embeds Facebook's own page plugin, showing recent posts from your Page. It sits alongside the Instagram panel and is sized to fill the space available.
Because the panel is supplied by Meta rather than by your website, its internal appearance is controlled by Facebook and cannot be restyled. Browser extensions that block adverts sometimes log errors against it in the developer console; those come from the extension, not from your site.
Publishing albums to Facebook
With Publish walk albums to Facebook switched on, content admins can publish an album from the website. On an album where an editor has enabled Allow Share To Social Media, open Share, choose Facebook, select photos, write or generate a caption, then publish.
Facebook is more forgiving than Instagram: there is no carousel size limit and no aspect-ratio restriction, so a Facebook-only post can use as many photos as the album offers.
Captions can be shared across both networks or written separately for each, with optional help to draft one from the walk write-up.
If something is not working
