Before this change the import was only possible [directly from Walks Manager](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/how-to/committee/release-notes/2024-11-08). The format supported by the import is the same as that supported by Ramblers as documented on the [Walks Manager home page](https://walks-manager.ramblers.org.uk/walks-manager) in their [useful links section at the top](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DGu_Cb_KDUSmH2KHbYGiXOG3_X0OQr6T/view). \n\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/4ceb8805-8b63-4cc7-b215-cf23c9dc6c94.jpg)\n\n\n### CSV Import Option\n- A new CSV Import option has been added to walks/admin/import page. When first visited, the default selection is:\n - **Import Type** as **From CSV Import File**.\n - **Import to Existing Group** radio button with the current group preselected in the autocomplete field:\n* A screenshot of the import page is shown below:\n------------------\n\n-------------------------\n* At this point you can either click **Choose File** to navigate to a CSV file on your computer or you can drop the file on the drop zone at the bottom of the screen.\n* When this is done the screen will change to a view similar to below:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/5baadbf2-619e-42d6-8189-226003124ba0.jpg)\n\n#### Member Matching\nOnce the NGX-Ramblers has processed the file and displayed it in a table, the next stage is to perform member matching in order to attempt to match as many import walk leaders to members in your database. The reason why this is valuable is because later on when members are creating new walks, it enables any of the historic walks in the database that they have led to be present in the **Create my walk based on an existing one** list. The member matching steps are:\n* To search in the **Member Allocation** autocomplete field for a member (nick is shown as initially being entered in the screenshot below)\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/e9f21544-a291-4a51-9b5c-6eb30581bfee.jpg)\n\n* When the entry is selected the member match field goes from being a red cross to a green tick. If there are any other imported walk leaders with this name (or **Not Supplied** in the screenshot below), a button appears below the autocomplete field offering to perform matches on all of these too:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/858c644c-fc61-4432-87da-011124599718.jpg)\n\n* When the button is clicked, the newly matched members are reflected in the view:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/52ffee0d-3fca-48cb-82be-cc5eec88130e.jpg)\n\n* The above matching process is repeated until as many members have been matched as possible.\n#### Filtering The Import View\n* Note that you can filter the list of unimported events using the radio buttons which can be filtered to show:\n * All\n * Matched to a member\n * Not matched to a member\n * Excluded (manually or due to duplicate detection)\n* Alternatively you can sort the list by clicking on the column headers:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/17ee9833-0654-429e-a251-91507d935936.jpg)\n\n#### Importing an unlisted Group\n- Because it's possible that a group may wish to import data from a different group (e.g. due to a historic merge of one group into another), the group you wish to import may not exist in the group autocomplete field. For this reason, it's possible to choose the **Import to Unlisted Group Name** option when you begin the import.
