Cancelling a walk is different to deleting a walk as it still appears on NGX-Ramblers and Walks Manager, but is marked as cancelled with a cancellation reason. The reason for choosing a cancellation option is that a walk may have been previously advertised on the local group NGX website as well as Walks Manager, so members may be planning to turn up to attend the walk. The purpose of the cancellation status is to clearly communicate that the walk is no longer going ahead with an indication as to why the cancellation was necessary. \n_____ \nPrior to this release, only **Upload to Ramblers** was supported. However, now there are 4 Walk Export scenarios supported:\n* **Upload to Ramblers**\n* **Delete from Ramblers** (but walk stays on NGX-site)\n* **Cancel**\n* **Uncancel**\n\nIn all cases, the above steps are accessed via the walk edit page in **Related Links** → **Ramblers** frame as can be seen in the screenshot below:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/60be0caf-b4c9-4e2c-a224-453ee261ffb9.jpeg)\n\n## Walk Export Scenarios\n\nThe following steps show what needs to be changed on the walk (left), and how this walk will then appear and be automatically preselected in the **Walk Export** view (right)\n\n### Upload to Ramblers\n\n* To publish a walk to Ramblers, check the **Publish to Ramblers** checkbox. This is actually pre-checked when walk slots are created. The walk leader can opt out of this when preparing their walk details:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/540a5232-26fe-4718-9b49-9fbae9dc7db1.jpeg)\n\n* Walk Export will show as:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/1f993ce4-78df-4ade-b195-4002372e2859.jpeg)\n\n### Delete from Ramblers\n\n* To unpublish (or delete) from Ramblers, uncheck the **Publish to Ramblers** checkbox and save it:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/49e14337-b8b5-4618-9bb8-20476c210065.jpeg)\n\n* Walk Export will show as:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/acf251fa-6707-44b1-b8bb-3b4f3b9aeddc.jpeg)\n\n### Cancel on Ramblers\n\n* To cancel a walk on both NGX-Ramblers and Ramblers, check the **Mark this walk as cancelled** checkbox, and provide a cancellation reason in the field below, then save it:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/504077c3-0a51-4d5f-8e61-058f333e50cd.jpeg)\n\n* Walk Export will show as:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/7571c831-963f-4128-b759-b0a4118ccbd6.jpeg)\n\n* Walk now appears with an alert message on both the walk summary and detailed view: \n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/12fd8493-a884-46eb-a619-cdb6f578c2b5.jpeg)\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/e1817e3c-74b2-4b0e-b713-9df98f176845.jpeg)\n\n* When walk export process completes and the walk is viewed in Walks Manager, you will see the same alert message displayed on that walk:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/ce16a30c-3b0e-479c-a3bd-ea22be35a3b9.jpeg)\n\n### Uncancel\n\n* To un-cancel a walk on both NGX-Ramblers and Ramblers, uncheck the **Mark this walk as cancelled** checkbox and save it:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/44b0b3db-4847-4fb6-a7bd-75df370d6c9e.jpeg)\n\n* Walk Export will show as:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/5b9f973e-a068-4b80-ab0a-915a51ce1ac3.jpeg)\n\n* When the walk export completes and the walk is viewed in Walks Manager, the cancellation is removed and the walk is reinstated:\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/be31e9de-ff3f-43ce-81cd-e04664678162.jpeg)","contentHtml":"
11th November 2025 — Support For Walk Cancellation Part 2 #17
\n
build 357 — commit 4a2bc6b
\n
\n
Note that this change applies only to sites that have Local Walk Population.
