It shows the document's type, title and date at the top, then two choices:\n\n- **View in new tab** - opens the document straight away so you can read it without leaving the page.\n- **Download** - saves a copy to your device, keeping the document's original filename.\n\n![](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/79280c23-07fa-4bb7-8d4a-7d5503d7b03e.png)\n\n*Clicking a file opens a menu showing the document's details, then View in new tab and Download.*\n\n## What opens where\n\n- **PDFs and images** open in a new browser tab so you can read them on the spot. Previously a click always downloaded them.\n- **Word, Excel and PowerPoint** documents open in a free Microsoft online viewer in a new tab, so you can read them without that software installed.\n- **Download** is always available when you would rather keep your own copy.\n\n## For committee administrators\n\nNothing changes about managing files.
