# 19-Jul-2026 — match walk leaders reliably, and keep leader choices in step across the walk [ref #280](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/issues/280)

## [build 780](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/actions/runs/29680933358) — [commit 97d044b](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/commit/97d044b613c8fdbb95e7e1133472f5b52e4c7e0e)

## What's new

Walk leader matching was doing too much work in the wrong places and getting the wrong answer in others. Saving any member re-ran leader matching across the whole programme, contact names arrived abbreviated from bulk loads, and the leader chosen on a walk did not always stay selected or carry across to the rest of the walk. This brings those together so matching runs when it should, on the names it should, and every part of the walk agrees on who is leading it.

## At a glance

- Saving a member no longer triggers walk leader matching across the programme, so routine member edits are quick again
- Saving a member closes the dialog straight away rather than waiting for the mailing provider to be updated, which now happens in the background
- Walk leaders bulk-loaded from Walks Manager keep their full name rather than an abbreviated form, so they match the member they refer to
- The walk leader dropdown keeps showing the leader that is set, instead of appearing empty
- The member list behind it reads the full member record, so the leader shown matches the one held against the walk
- Choosing a different walk leader now updates the Copy tab to that person, and the list of walks to copy from follows them, instead of staying on whoever was set when the walk was opened
- Clicking the action button or its dropdown on a walk card no longer opens the walk behind it
