When you change page content, walk or event descriptions, or help text, you use a visual TipTap editor - type normally, format with the toolbar, and what you see is what visitors get. You never need to learn markdown: it only matters under the hood for storage, technical systems and AI. If you already have markdown and paste it, TipTap converts it to normal formatted content; otherwise markdown stays invisible. The old Edit/view toggle and markdown-first workflow are gone.\n\nSite edit on dense pages such as contact-us stays calm: the formatting toolbar only appears when you click into a field, image-only columns no longer open empty editors, and column frames no longer look like nested edit boxes until you open settings. Standalone content is tracked for unsaved changes so work is harder to lose when leaving a page. User-facing labels no longer mention markdown (index text, contact links, paste prompts, migration wording).\n\n## At a glance\n\n- **Visual editing only** - no need to write or understand markdown to edit the site\n- **Markdown only if you paste it** - optional; the editor converts it for you; everything else is silent under the hood\n- TipTap covers CMS columns, admin help text, walks and group event descriptions\n- No per-column Edit/view toggle for rich text\n- Click a text field to show the formatting toolbar; click away to hide it\n- Unfocused fields have no editor border or padded panel - content looks like the public page\n- Image-only columns show the photo only; add body text from column settings when needed\n- Contact-style button text no longer sits inside an extra grey edit box\n- Column frames stay borderless until settings are open, then restore normal padding\n- Undo and redo disable when there is nothing to undo or redo\n- Unreferenced pages under a path no longer include sibling pages such as `walks-recently-recovered` when editing `walks`\n- Column resize and drag handles no longer jump the layout on hover\n- UI copy no longer says \"Markdown\" where ordinary editors work\n- New early-return / guard-clause style is blocked by ESLint (existing sites baselined)","contentHtml":"
28-Jul-2026 — replace markdown editing with TipTap WYSIWYG ref #303
\n
build 799 — commit 643e7b6
\n
\n
What's new
\n
Website text is no longer edited as markdown.
