What's new

The follow map now has a compass tape and a longer scale on the top row, and a bottom tray that opens itself when you arrive at a route that has not started. Close and any off-route message share that top row, and the tape no longer runs under the close button. Tap the tray and it slides down to elevation and Pause; tap Start and it does the same. You can choose whether the walked part of the line or the part still ahead takes the route colour; on a phone those two choices sit one per row so the labels stay on one line. Recording extends from the last point you plotted, or from the nearer open end if the line is not a loop. If you wander off the line, the banner tells you to head left, right, forward or back from where you are standing. On a walk page, Follow this route is the yellow button, Share and Edit stretch to the full width when they sit alone on a phone row, and tapping a pin shows start or finish with the postcode and grid reference. Walk edit buttons have short labels and icons, two-finger rotate works on iPhone, and Reset to north is a real button that actually fires. Walks that were written in NGX and published to Walks Manager get their flattened postcode and place links put back together when the site reads the Walks Manager copy, so you see BN21 3EL instead of a wrapping short URL.
