05-Sep-2026 — moderator-only recording that everyone can see, clearer device names, and a way out when a #357
build 878 — commit a5a77fc
What's new
Recording a meeting for minutes is now something only the moderator can start. When they do, everyone gets the same notice, a pulsing Recording indicator stays in the bar, participants cannot switch it off, and anyone joining part-way is told at once. Device lists no longer show hardware codes after the name. On a phone that had refused camera or microphone access the meeting was a dead end; the room now asks for both before it joins, and a refusal shows how to allow access for your phone and browser, with a Try again button. Brave on iPhone and iPad gets its own instructions, the Sound and camera panel says when the microphone is blocked, and in portrait the toolbar wraps so every control is reachable.
At a glance
- Only the moderator sees Record; everyone sees the recording notice and indicator
- Device names drop their hardware identifiers
- Permission is requested before joining, with plain recovery instructions and Try again
- The toolbar wraps on phones
