# 20-Oct-2026 — upcoming walk maps, cached tiles and compass cursor [ref #151](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/issues/151)

## [build 1011](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/actions/runs/39346396688) — [commit 129c803](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/commit/129c803000233d1051b4e36338f525323e79b0f7)

## What's new

- In Upcoming in the walking app, walks without photos show a small OS Explorer map of the start, with a small pin and tiny attribution. A placeholder remains when the walk has no location.
- Walks waiting for a leader show a compact status badge aligned with the title and date. The badge fits its text on wide and narrow screens.
- Use the red route-path icon to record a route, the walking icon to follow one, and the information icon to open walk details. These actions show icons without square backgrounds and retain their tooltips and touch areas.
- Recording is offered only for walks with completed details and a valid start location; walks awaiting details or a leader do not show it.
- Appearance remains available in Customise without a second copy at the bottom of Upcoming.
- On Record route and Follow, map tiles you have already loaded stay available after the phone sleeps, you switch apps, or you pan back over the same ground. Refreshing the map before a walk now actually saves those tiles for the walk.
- The pink location cursor turns with the compass tape, including on Android, so 306° on the tape is 306° on the map.

- Upcoming walk cards show the assigned leader name beneath the start location when the site contact settings allow it.
