# 20-Oct-2026 — prepare HEIC photos locally and preserve album edits ([ref #433](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/issues/433), [#312](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/issues/312))

## [build 1011](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/actions/runs/39346396688) — [commit 2811a21](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/commit/2811a21c84242fe404baa39d4025af8ebbab709e)

## What's new

- Create album opens the guided editor. Drop photos anywhere in the editor and save the completed album when you are ready.
- Drop HEIC photos into the album editor to convert them on your device, with one photo prepared at a time and unreadable filenames identified in the warning.
- Repeated drops skip identical files, including renamed copies. New photos retain a source checksum so later drops can recognise them after saving.
- Use Photo order in either album workflow to choose newest first, oldest first, filename or a custom arrangement. New imports use the capture date embedded in the original photo when available, falling back to its file date.
- In the guided album editor, Walk report, Photo order, Add photos, Take photo, Save and Discard sit together in two columns, aligned with the content. Open Photo order to choose a sort from its downward menu, or Walk report to show or hide the report editor.
- Open a photo to crop or edit it, then use Back to photos to return without losing the other unsaved photos. Save and Discard changes are available in the album view, with the toolbar contained inside the editor.
- Edit the walk report immediately and use Auto-choose to request an album cover when saving. Preparation alerts have left-aligned text, and the saved confirmation no longer asks you to share an album that has already been published.
- Create album opens the editor even when the current album URL is already selected. Empty albums skip the saved-file lookup, loading is labelled separately from preparing photos, and a single photo-count heading and guidance paragraph keep the page compact. An idle resize status no longer appears as a missing-resource error.
- A walk album created for the first time on a site uses a small grid gap. Changing the gap on one album does not change the template for the next new album.
