It brings your group's routes and upcoming walks together on your phone, with tools to follow a route, import a GPX file and record a walk of your own.\n\nThis announcement marks readiness for app-store release. Store availability and download links will follow when the listings are published.\n\n![Illustration of the native app route library on iPhone](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/7a0b6607-695b-41f8-89ff-c612a532a09f.png)\n\n### Your route library\n\nFind a route, filter by creator, or return to a favourite.\n\n![Illustration of upcoming walks in the native app on Android](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/api/aws/s3/site-content/f87f871c-d0bf-443f-8ce0-67f5485fd46f.png)\n\n### Your upcoming walks\n\nBrowse the group programme and open the details for your next walk.\n\n## Find your next walk\n\nOpen **Maps** to browse the route library. Search for a place or route, choose a creator, or use **Near me** and **Favourites** to narrow the list. Open a route to see its map and directions; when you go back, the list keeps your place.\n\nChoose **Upcoming** to see your group's published walk programme, including dates, distances and meeting details. Open a walk for the full information.\n\n## Take the route with you\n\nOpen a route and choose **Start** to follow it with your live position and direction pointer on the map. The map controls let you pause or stop without opening the full drawer. You can choose a small, medium or large location pointer in map settings.\n\nOn Android, **Compass calibration help** is available in App settings and on the map if the pointer needs attention. The help screen shows the movement to make and returns you to the screen you came from.\n\n## Bring a route or record your own\n\nUse **Import GPX** to open a route file. To record a new walk, sign in and choose **Record**, then walk as usual and press **Stop** when you finish. You can save with the suggested date-and-time name or give the route a name of your own. Route importing, recording and editing follow the permissions set by your group.\n\nWhen editing a route on a phone, drag the white points to adjust the line. Name and description are under **Additional settings**, leaving more room for the map.\n\n## Make it yours\n\nOpen the navigation menu and choose **App settings** to choose the views you want and your preferred appearance. On a desktop, use the settings button beside Refresh. In the native app, the build number helps identify the installed version when reporting a problem.\n\n## Also in this release\n\n- Upcoming walks with an OS map use the same map-credit strip as the route library. Photos and placeholders keep their own presentation.\n- Album banners fit phone screens more comfortably, with the event date and title on separate lines. Album titles remain visible when used outside a page shell.\n- CMS page headings stay below the site navigation as you scroll, and background albums preserve the page heading.\n- Filled buttons keep their icon and label together, and the phone navigation menu has more balanced spacing.\n\n[Related mobile development](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/issues/151) · [Related CMS improvements](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/issues/205)","contentHtml":"
23-Oct-2026 — The native walking app is ready for app-store release
\n
build 1013 — commit 02fad93
\n
\n
NGX-Ramblers' native walking app for iPhone and Android is ready for release to the Apple App Store and Google Play.
