# 30-Oct-2026 — improve menus and conversation reading space [#278](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/issues/278)

## [build 1026](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/actions/runs/40988234188) — [commit 152e719](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/commit/152e71921715eedcf33a75047b2c449059feb162)

_____

- Committee members can open Inbox directly from the site menu without an administrator adding a link; Inbox is highlighted while reading mail, including links to individual conversations.
- On smaller laptop screens, Inbox keeps its folder pane and desktop controls. Use the expand icon beside a conversation heading to read it across the full screen, then choose Restore to return to the previous inbox layout.
- When the desktop menu is wider than the available space, move the mouse wheel over it or drag it sideways to reach the remaining links without a visible scrollbar.
- App settings hide the App section when it has no controls or details to show, and leave space above the Map preferences message below Appearance.

- Opening Reply or Forward for a selected message prepares that message directly without first loading the entire conversation. Recipient suggestions avoid rebuilding the member directory during typing, and saving or sending resumes screen updates after editing.

- Reuse the existing navigation with committee access checks, duplicate suppression and selection of the most specific matching path.
- Give conversation panels independent URL state and coordinate document scrolling across nested maximised panels.
- Restrict the landscape phone height rule to devices with a coarse pointer, and handle vertical wheel input within overflowing navigation.
- Add navigation, responsive layout and nested panel regression checks, and align the mail-client credential sort key type with the shared table control.
- Reuse unchanged committee-list suggestion tokens and resume composer change detection at save, send and step transitions; cover selected-message reply loading without a full-thread fetch.
