# 30-Oct-2026 — advertise the public host and keep large folders usable [#407](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/issues/407)

## [build 1027](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/actions/runs/41031254075) — [commit d4414ce](https://github.com/nbarrett/ngx-ramblers/commit/d4414ce01206e87e681097da186bfac81ce79605)

## What's new

- On [Profile → External Email Setup](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/admin/profile/external-email-setup "{{siteUrl}}"), the incoming and outgoing server names can be edited. Typing localhost switches both sides to the local test ports and turns SSL off, so a laptop can point a mail app at this machine. For a live site, keep the public hostname with IMAP 993 and SMTP 465, both SSL/TLS.
- When mail applications are switched off, the warning links through to [Admin → Mail Settings → API](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/admin/mail-settings?tab=api "{{siteUrl}}"). That setting is labelled Allow External Mail Support, and the help text names SMTP 465 and IMAP 993 with SSL/TLS.
- Large folders in Apple Mail, Outlook or Thunderbird load in batches so the message list does not stall. Copying a message (for example into Deleted) keeps the original conversation where it is.
