Your Contact Details on Ramblers Walks
Walks entered on your group's website are published to the Ramblers website through Ramblers Walks Manager. A question that comes up regularly is why the Ramblers listing shows no leader name, email address or phone number, even though they were entered on the walk.
The answer is that, since Ramblers Walks Manager went live in June 2023, Ramblers only show a walk leader's details if that leader has given permission in their own Walks Manager contact preferences. Nothing entered on the group's side can switch that on for them. It takes a couple of minutes and each leader only has to do it once.
How a walk leader gives permission
- Go to Walks Manager contact preferences.
- Log in with your My Ramblers account. That is the email address and password used for other Ramblers tools such as Assemble and the Ramblers app, not the login for your group's website.
- In the Permission section, tick the boxes for your display name, email address and contact number as you prefer. It should look like this once done:

What then appears on Ramblers
- If you share your name, your first name and the first initial of your surname appear on the walk.
- If you share your email address, it is hidden behind a web form on the Ramblers website to protect your privacy.
- For data protection reasons, Ramblers remove contact details from a walk listing 48 hours after the walk has happened. Your details still appear on any new or upcoming walks.
This applies to the listing on the Ramblers website only. On your group's own website, the walk leader contact link is handled by the site itself, as described in Walk Leader Contact, and does not depend on these preferences.
For walks coordinators
A short email to all walk leaders with the three steps above, sent when the group first starts publishing walks from its site, saves a lot of "why doesn't my name appear" questions later. This page can be linked from that email.
