# 25-Aug-2026 — Working notes: connecting NGX-Ramblers to Facebook

_____

This is a screenshot record of the **NGX-Ramblers** Meta app and Facebook Page, taken on 25 August 2026 while wiring the demo site. It is not the group how-to. For the instructions, use [Publishing to Facebook and Instagram: the Meta approval process](https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/how-to/technical-articles/2026-07-10-meta-approval-facebook-instagram).

Passwords and the App Secret are not shown.

## What we found

The Facebook session is the **Ngx Ramblers** Page (not the NGX-Ramblers professional profile). There is already a Meta app named **ngx-ramblers**, App ID `7910679728998575`, in **Live / Published** mode. The site already has that App ID saved, but no App Secret and no connected Page.

The app currently has one use case: **Manage messaging and content on Instagram**. The Page publishing use case is not on this app yet. Facebook Login for Business is in the left nav.

Meta showed a “your app has a new home” tour on first open of the dashboard.

*Add more use cases. Meta warns that not every use case can sit on the same app. Featured list does not include Page publishing.*

## Next

- Add the Page publishing use case if Meta will combine it with Instagram on this app.
- Copy the App Secret (not stored on this page) into NGX Social settings.
- Add Valid OAuth Redirect URIs for `https://www.ngx-ramblers.org.uk/admin/settings/system-settings` and `https://ngx-ramblers.org.uk/admin/settings/system-settings`.
- Connect Facebook from NGX, pick the **Ngx Ramblers** Page.
- Leave album and event publishing off until a test post is wanted.

## Logging back in as Ngx Ramblers

Meta dropped the developer session after the earlier password check. Continue with Facebook then showed the Ngx Ramblers profile.

*Continue as Ngx Ramblers. This is the Page we want, not the NGX-Ramblers professional profile.*

*Facebook then asked for the Ngx Ramblers password again.*
