The walks are lead by volunteers. You can expect to meet lots of walkers happy to chat and share their knowledge of the forest.\n\nMore details of the walks are available on the Join us on a walk ! section of our web site gives links to maps showing the start point and details for our walks.\n\nBOOKING WALKS\n\nNo booking is needed for most of our walks, just turn up and walk. If there are any booking requirements, they will be clearly shown in the walk details. The mobile number for each walk is included in the walks details.\n\nNOTES ON THE RAMBLERS’ WALK\n\nThe walks are largely on forest paths which are uneven in places, and are likely to be muddy in places. We recommend walking boots or other appropriate footwear. Also we recommend bringing a waterproof jacket.\n\nMost of our walks are in areas of the forest which don’t have public conveniences.\n\nStart times Walks leave promptly at the advertised start times (normally 10 am) Please arrive 15 minutes before the walk start time, this will allow time for changing into walking boots etc. - for example arrive at 9:45 for a 10:00 am walk\n\nIn Case of Emergency (ICE) Card. You should have your ICE card with you when on a walk. You can get one from the walk leader at the start of the walk. At the earliest opportunity, please fill it in with a permanent marker pen. Should you be involved in an incident, the information you provide on your ICE card will help the walk leader and the emergency services. Therefore, keep it in an easily accessible place.\n\nRefreshments There will be a drinks stop on all walks, we advise walkers take some drink with them. There is a lunch stop on longer walks (Wednesdays and Sundays) we advise bringing a picnic lunch.\n\nPhone contacts The leaders’ phone numbers are given, leaders’ will do their best to answer phone queries, but there are some practical limitations. There is no mobile reception in some areas of the Forest. Once the leaders have left home to lead the walk, they won’t be able to answer calls to their land lines.\n\nIN EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS, particularly snow, ice, heavy continuous rain, please phone the leader to check that the walk is still going to take place.\n\nALL WALKS TAKE PLACE ENTIRELY AT THE LEADER’S DISCRETION.\n\nSECURITY You are advised to lock and secure a parked car. Do not leave money or valuables in it.\n\nDOGS must be kept on a short lead and not be allowed to run amongst walkers’ feet.
