A Journey Through Kent’s Hidden Valleys

Step back in time with a gorgeous ramble through the secret, sun-dappled valleys of the Medway and Eden rivers.

Our journey kicks off in Penshurst, a picture postcard Kentish village where timber-framed cottages sit in the shadow of a spectacular, honeystone medieval manor house. Leaving the estate behind, you'll slip into the beautiful "Garden of England" as it begins its transition into autumn. The trail leads us through sweeping water meadows, alongside two tranquil, winding rivers, and up through the scenic slopes of Smarts Hill.

🥾 Route Terrain & Pace

The terrain is blissfully gentle. While there are a few short, easy inclines including our stretch up Smarts Hill the walk is mostly flat as we stroll through open meadows. There are only a limited number of stiles to hop over along the way, making for a relaxed and accessible route.

🐾 Dog Policy

Small, well-behaved dogs are very welcome! However, please note:

 Leashes: They must be kept on a short lead at all times, as we will be crossing fields that may contain livestock.

 Discretion: The walk leader reserves the right to refuse entry to any dogs deemed unsuitable or misbehaving for the safety of the group.

🍏 Food & Drink

 Mid-way: We’ll take a short break for a quick nibble/snack partway through.

 Post-walk: The organized walk will finish back at the village, where there is a lovely local pub nearby. Visiting the pub is entirely optional, and it is up to each person to decide what they would like to do at the end of the trail.
