Knole park circular from Sevenoaks station
Starting at Sevenoaks railway station, this is a 4.5 mile moderate walk with some uphill and downhill gradients, and some urban walking until we get into the park, and after we leave it. We walk uphill from the station , past The Vine (historic cricket ground ) into beautiful Knole park, Kent's last medieval deer park.
If the group wishes, we will stop for refreshments and toilets at the NT cafe adjoining Knole House.(or people may prefer to bring their own refreshments)
We follow mainly surfaced paths, with lovely views of Knole House (originally a Medieval manor and one of England's largest country houses with an incredible 365 rooms apparently !) surrounding countryside, passing through a golf course and woodland with ancient trees. We will leave the park by the main entrance which leads us into Sevenoaks town where there are many cafes and some attractive old buildings, and return to the station walking downhill through the town.
