Meandering from Meopham Green

We walk through woods and fields to Ridley, then across to Hodsoll Street and on to Stansted for lunch. Returning through Fairseat to Hodsoll Street for our final leg back to Meopham Green.

This is a lovely walk but short on amenities! There are no public toilets on the route, so if you can't manage al fresco, this may not be the walk for you. The Ridley Hut (where we shall stop for our morning break) has a coffee machine (£3.00, card payment only) and, possibly, ice cream. Apart from this, there are no opportunities to buy food or drink, so you'll need to be self-sufficient. There are a handful of stiles on the route, all in reasonable condition. The terrain is rolling with a couple of short steep uphill stretches. At the time of walking-out (late June), recent weather conditions have left some stretches of path quite overgrown with nettles and brambles, so shorts are not advised unless you've got skin like rhinoceros hide. Plenty of shade but also some open stretches - so don't forget the sunscreen!
