A QUIET LANE Ramble

Park in the car park of The Plough at Basted. We then embark on a 5 mile walk along almost empty country lanes.  We pass what was once Basted paper mill and then climb up towards Stangate Quarry, and on to a shrine to a Polish Pilot who was killed during WW2. After climbing steep Sheet Hill we arrive in Plaxtol. Walking down the Street we'll pass several of what are now closed pubs. We go up Dux Hill on towards Claygate Cross and then back to the Plough.
