Sandwich to Dover along the Saxon Shore Way

"Walk the way of the Saxons" and join us on this epic walk along the Saxon Shore Way starting at Sandwich and ending at Dover. This is a linear walk with a return on a bus replacement service from Dover Priory Rail Station. This 17 mile, "factoid" filled walk, is enjoyable, picturesque but is deceptive. The first 10 miles is flat and takes us through the famous Royal St Georges Golf Course before we turn right at the coast and walk through Deal. Passing by both Deal and Walmer Castle we pass an interesting information stone, before we ascend up onto the start of the White Cliffs of Dover Walk. Here we have lunch, where there are stunning views across the Straits of Dover. We follow the undulating, hilly cliff lines where we pass by Kingsdown, St Margaret's Bay, South Foreland Light House and finally ending up in Dover, where we return to our start point of Sandwich by bus

Please Note: At present there is a bus replacement service running between Dover and Sandwich on walk day. The bus we will most likely get is the 17:21, gets back to Sandwich at 18:04 at a cost of £8.80 or £5.80 with a railcard.

The last 7 miles of this walk are hilly but enjoyable. The paths are well established and I don't anticipate any muddy sections. So wear comfortable footwear, no poles are needed on this walk
