Singleton walk

Nice and local to Ashford, so over very familiar ground to many of us, this is an 11.5 mile walk, starting from Singleton. On it, we explore the parkland of the Godinton House Estate and also visit Hothfield Common.

We start off by circumnavigating Singleton Lake, before passing through Bucksford Meadow, through the underpass and across the football and cricket sports fields at Great Chart. Joining both the Stour Valley Walk and Greensand Way (GW), to head along Chart Avenue and into the parkland of the Godinton House Estate.

Continuing onward towards Hothfield we enter Hothfield Common, making progress in the direction of Tutt Hill. This loop of the walk, then goes left at Ram Lane before re-entering Hothfield Common. Picking up once more the GW, the walk crosses Hothfield Bogs and over to Hothfield church, which is close to Nine Oaks Vineyard, at the church we will enjoy our usual short picnic lunch stop.

We pass through the flood defences and onward to Worten & Goldwell down to Great Chart, then back over to Singleton, where Singleton Barn awaits a group of thirsty walkers.

Dogs welcome, but please do keep on a short lead when required.
