St James Way - Kings Worthy to Eastleigh - 11.5 miles
This is the 5th leg of the St James way. We will meet at St Marys church to start walking at 10:30. There is the number 6 bus from Winchester train station that takes you to the start leaving at 09:51
This is again a very pretty walk mostly along the Itchen. We start back at St Marys church where we wind our way into Winchester via St Bartholomew's for a stamp and onto the Cathedral for our second stamp. There is a café an a toilet here and if people would like we can get a pilgrims blessing. After leaving the Cathedral we catch up with the river Itchen again the leads us to the hospital of St Cross for our 3rd and last stamp of the day. Again there is a café and toilets if needed, there are limited places for lunch so this could be an early lunch stop. After the hospital we continue along the Itchen before joining part of the Itchen way to Shawford and on to Allbrook we will leave the walk at Bishopstoke Road and walk into Eastleigh train station where the walk will end and you can get a train back to Winchester. We will be doing the last leg of the St James way the next day and so people who want to do both are going to stay local.
There are several places to paddle in the Itchen if people would like to do this and we can agree this on the day.
