Stunning Stonegate Circular, 11 miles

This stunning 11 mile circular walk from the small village of Stonegate East Sussex, promises unspoilt woodland, undulating hills and breathtaking views.  The route will take us through some of the 796 acres of Wadhurst Park, home to the late Dr Reuben Rausing - inventor of Tetra Paks.  The park is now managed by his daughter, whose vision is to revive this beautiful and biodiverse landscape in the High Weald by re-introducing wild meadows, replanting hedgerows and establishing wetlands to further improve this unique landscape. 

As we make our way through the park we may view the many deer who call this tranqil environment home as well as encountering a varied array of butterflies, dragonflies and birdlife. 

Storks, which were once native to southern UK are being reintroduce at Wadhurst Park as part of the White Stork Project.  These majestic black and white birds range from 2-5ft in height and we may be fortunate enough to see them taking off and using the thermals to gain height as we make our way through the park.

Picnic lunches will be required as there are no shops, tea rooms or pubs on this walk.  

Sadly no dogs on this occasion as we pass through farmland and fields with grazing cows and sheep.
