A Tale of Two Cemeteries

Nunhead is one of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ Victorian 19th Century cemeteries. We start with a circuit through this now semi-wild area to view the Victorian memorials. Then a pavement walk takes us to & through Camberwell New Cemetery to see the modern equivalent. Followed by One Tree Hill with it’s linked apocryphal stories, and then along Brenchley Gardens – this was the track of the railway to Crystal Palace High Level. Finally we go down Forest Hill Road to cross Peckham Rye Common (cafe here) emerging eventually for a short road walk back to the start.
