Wadhurst walk

It would be fair to describe this 12 mile walk starting from Wadhurst in East Sussex as energetic, being very up and down with 1900 feet of ascent to conquer, for those up for the challenge!

It therefore most definitely is a good one to test the stamina and fitness levels, but probably not one for novices, with this amount of ascent! Most of the hills are slow and long, but not overly steep and there is a good mix of fields and woodland and very little road walking. Walking poles might be useful for those who use them, as there are some slippery downhill parts in the woods especially going down towards streams.

Our route heads out in a south westerly direction, passing through Snape Wood & Coombe Wood, before we reach Mayfield at roughly the halfway point of the walk. We will stop at this point for our short picnic lunch stop, whilst the Rose & Crown is useful for drinks, before tackling the return to Wadhurst.
